DURFC 4th XV vs Aberdeen Rugby 2nd XV 25th of October

On Wednesday the 25th of October the world celebrates the birthday of beloved artist Katy Perry. But in 2017, Durham 4th Team welcomed a cup game at the racecourse contested by a travelling Aberdeen 2nd XV. Conditions were decent for a northern day in October, but the ground was muddy and a little bit greasy, not ideal for jouer, but that didn’t stop the Durham 4th XV from putting up a fight. The game started hard and fast with an Aberdeen kick off, a couple of phases of Durham structure followed, however a sneaky turnover of the ball led to Aberdeen testing the defense of the 4th XV early on. Trying to break our lines, Aberdeen seemed to bash the ball up off 9 and 10 well, but was met by some strong defense. A missed penalty attempt from Aberdeen showed some great promise for the travellers. Slowly moving up the pitch, Aberdeen were looking close to scoring when a penalty was given to Aberdeen, with a swift ping of the ball they were on the Durham 5m Line preparing for a lineout score. But this was not the case, because a strong Durham defense sent the Aberdeen team marching backwards, which was the foreshadowing for a fantastic try. With a fantastic run from the Fergus “Hedge” Hamilton, lead to a dot down from Josh Perry, starting what was a fantastic surge of charge from the palatinate 4th Team. Try’s followed from Root, Beachell, Edwards, Stone and Longbottom. With an overall fantastic 1st Half, Durham held there own in the second half with only letting in one try overall in the game. Final Score 43-5 to Durham 4th XV vs Aberdeen 2nd XV. Marching on in the cup, Durham now face Sheffield 1st XV in their next home league game on Wednesday 1st November at MC. #justcantgetenough
